Mr. Bellomy stood for our country as a member of the US Navy and the Patriot Guard Riders.
He was proud to be from Kentucky and proud to have served his country for 20 years. After boot camp in Orlando, FL., schools in Great Lakes, MI, and electronics school at Fleet Training Center in Norfolk, VA., Tom then repaired electronics as a tech at the Naval Air Station in Bermuda where he met his wife, on a blind date.
They went on to have many adventures having been stationed in Norfolk, VA. on two ships and also as an instructor himself on two occasions at Fleet Training Center, during which his only child was born and who was the apple of his eye.
Tom traveled by sea to the North Atlantic, Persian Gulf (Desert Storm) and drug ops in the Caribbean. He served in a Joint Services Communication Element at McDill AFB where he made trips to Egypt and Honduras.
Following his time in the Navy, Tom repaired electronics for BOSE in Blythewood, SC and then worked as a technician at Bridgestone in Aiken, SC. He was medically retired and fulfilled his promise to his wife of her dream of living in the mountains. They lived in Western North Carolina for the last seven years. He had many beautiful rides on his Yamaha on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Tom was a hard worker and a born helper. He was a volunteer firefighter, faithfully donating blood. He was a Patriot Guard Rider where he stood many missions for other veterans in three states. He also coached his daughter’s soccer team and completed five marathons as well as many shorter runs.
